Report File

Plot: The game begins shortly after the beginning of the film, with McCoy tasked with tracking down a group of replicants who are suspected of murdering animals — a crime nearly as heinous as murdering humans, since most animal species are extinct, and real specimens are exceedingly rare.

As McCoy's investigation progresses, he is framed for the murder of a civilian by the corrupt Lt. Guzza, who has been assisting the replicants in an effort to prevent them from revealing his activities. Forced into hiding, McCoy explores the underbelly of LA, and makes contact with the replicant twins Luther and Lance, former genetic designers for the Tyrell Corporation, who are now working to extend their own lifespans, as well as those of all other replicants. From them, McCoy receives a detailed report containing evidence of Guzza's corruption. Using this information, he blackmails Guzza, and forces him to set his falsified record straight. They meet in the city sewers for the exchange, where Guzza is wounded by replicant gunfire. At this point, the player can either run away or kill Guzza.

The game features thirteen different endings, which are influenced by the player's cumulative actions and decisions throughout the story. The endings are variations on three major themes; McCoy is human, and hunts down the replicants; McCoy is a replicant himself, and sides with the other replicants; McCoy's status remains ambiguous, and he sides with neither the replicants nor the police, instead leaving the city, either alone, with Crystal, or with Lucy.

Gameplay:
Blade Runner is a point-and-click adventure game played from a third-person perspective, in which the game world is navigated, explored, and manipulated using the mouse. The pointer has four different styles depending on the given situation; a standard grey pointer is used to move McCoy by clicking on any location, and scan the screen for elements with which to interact; an animated green pointer indicates McCoy can interact with an object or begin a conversation with an NPC; an animated blue pointer indicates the screen can be changed and a new area accessed (usually appears at the sides of the screen or in doorways); an animated red target becomes available only in combat mode and indicates McCoy can fire (if the target is grey, it means McCoy cannot fire).

Oh and,

For a good laugh: Click on McCoy or hit ESC to view the KIA and type POGO.

Start Blade Runner with the command line option SITCOM. (in command line: blade.exe SITCOM) After some sentences spoken in dialogs you will hear applause or laughter.

Start blade.exe with the parameter SHORTY. (from commandline: blade.exe SHORTY). All characters are shorter and speak with a pitched voice.

set the game to compatibility mode Win95/98. this is a very old PC game ! It used to run on my Cyrix200 Processor with 512meg system mem. However THAT was on a win95 system and XP can cause problems with the game code. (Blade Runner has caused a Problem Press Ok to Continue)
Compatibility seems to fix most (Please note - I have this on ORIGINAL and have not used Amiga1200's post. and have to set mode to 95 to play it) - XP Pro -

And I can confirm this works on my Windows 7 64bit. The only problem I had was after I finished a game and went back to desktop all my icons were reshuffled. lol. No biggie! Thanks for this upload, Amiga. Are you a Replicant, btw? ;)

First off thanks so much for the upload (My discs wouldnt even install)
Second I noticed a bug and a fix, I am using Win 7 64bit and the "sprites" or characters and menus in the game was really buggy (unplayable) and I found out to fix this....

All you have to do is to press Alt+Tab to go back to your desktop, and then you click on the blade runner window on the taskbar to go back to the game, and normally your problems should be resolved hope that helps someone else :)

One other bug and fix I have found, The saves don't work, a message will say "error saving game"

Fix: just go into the install folder and create a folder called SAVE
For me that was Program Files (x86) > Westwood > Blade Runner then make a New folder called SAVE
Hope that helps someone else

I'm surprised it didn't make it for you. I checked mine and it was already there. But good tip for anyone who has this problem: do what JMMREVIEW suggested.

blade runner is one of the few titles that was cared for deeply when they produced the electric sheep to film and game. even if you never saw the movie or read philip k dick's novel, you'll probably enjoy this adventure game. westwood knocked it out of the park with this one.
