MAME 0.162 Working Roms & CHD's Only Now Live !

Image

UPDATED : 04/07/15 UK
Well after what seems like an iceage, it's up and going !

DO NOT TRY TO USE THESE ROMS ON A CONSOLE !
THEY WILL NOT WORK !

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRAB THE ROMSETS HERE !
GRAB THE CHD'S HERE

MAMEUIFX 0.162 Emulator(s) GRAB Em HERE

For information on how to setup MAMEUIFX Go HERE
It's slightly outdated, but most things covered are the same

MAMEWorld.Info is one of the best places to keep upto date with latest MAME/MESS emulation
MameChannel.it - MAME - Il sito italiano - Good site worth translating :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JDownloader Warning About MEGA - Click spoiler for info
Spoiler:
If you are using "JDownloader" TAKE HEED !
If you have the program loaded, if you copy the pastebin address you will get EVERY CHD added automatically to your "Link Grabber" tab. This is EVERY CHD/Laserdisk and takes up over
340 GIG... And s*** loads don't work so be warned !

ALSO BE WARNED DO NOT CLOSE JD - <FILENAME.CHD.decrypted>
Because MEGA uses file encryption, JD needs to decrypt the files it downloads from MEGA.
You download <FILENAME.CHD> when it's done, you get
FILENAME.CHD + FILENAME.CHD.decrypted

So you end up with 2 files per download.
YOU MUST WAIT Until the file is 100% decrypted before you move it. ie the .decrypted extension.
Soon as a decrypted file is done, it will overwrite the CHD file and delete the .decrypted file.
so you end up with a working CHD file that MAME can load.

So the off shoot of this is that you NEED DOUBLE HD space to decrypt....

I didn't realize this after I had downloaded a 12gig+ Laserdisk and closed JDL... Buggered the file totally ! So you have been warned...

If you download directly from MEGA you don't need to have extra space as the file is decrypted by MEGA as you download it.

Hope this makes sense.

Basically, between the links shown here, you can get a FULL download of MAME including all non working roms and chd's and all the extra guff like Cabs, Marquees etc...

Be warned though : A Complete MAME 0.163 is fast approaching +400gig with all extras...
My COMPLETE Package sits under 170Gig :)

Extra NOTES

1 : Where do I put ROMS, BIOS and CHD files ?
CHD's, BIOS and Roms go into the ROMS folder of your MAME install

2: Audit kicks out a shitload of Errors
Don't Worry about the Errors the Audit gives ! MAME Looks for all roms broken or working.
Because my sets are only the working sets, MAME thinks that a shed load of files are missing. this is normal for my package.
The only Sub section of MAMEUI/FX you need to click on is in the Left Folder Panel
Click on where it says "WORKING GAMES"
This will give you all the working games listed and no broken roms !

- Thanks to damotheking for pointing the above Audit issues out

Enjoy

Note : The above info WILL change over time.

"MAME is a reference emulator. That means it's supposed to show the proper way to emulate each game that's in it. That information can then be used to write faster emulators such as Nebula, Kawaks, or ZiNc which are more compatible with sub-ghetto PCs."

how about links to the actual laserdisc games ? i find that when you search space ace rom,it only gives you the tiny rom file and not the actual videos.
the new daphne emulator is good as it has a feature to download them automatically but i still would like links to the full blown laserdisc games ?

Daphne is the best for Laserdisk Emulation , MAME can be quite crappy and Daphne is specialized so use that !
Plus the Daphne Downloader program itself is top notch, taking all the hassles out of it all.

The Pastebin link only contains MAME Laserdisk CHD's

Feel free to ask PC MAME related questions here. I don't know anything really about Console MAME Emulation. But I have been using MAMENU 0.22 (DOS) so have quite a good user knowledge.

This is NOT MY LIST.

Front-ends - Here is a list of front ends for MAME cabinets.

AdvanceMenu Popular choice for Linux, OS X, Windows and DOS
ArcadeOS Good if you are using an arcademonitor and good old DOS
AtomicFE Can be configured to any emulator and application
Cabrio FE Open source front-end for Linux
GameEX One of the most advanced frontends. It is also at very good HTPC frontend for music and video. You have to pay to avoid disclaimers all the time :(. Very hard to change the layouts to something that doesn't look like a media center pc. Just recommended.
Gamelauncher More or less what is says, both PC and Linux. Works with any command line emulator.
Hyperspin FE Very nice looking and very graphical front-end for various emulators. This isn't for the slowest Atom boards I'm afraid. Only for Windows XP and 7 too.
Kymaera Advanced open source front-end.
Khameleon Nice looking new windows interface, very refreshing.
MaLa Popular freeware front-end. One of the best. Very advanced features. I really love using this as you can customize the hell out of it. I used it on the Nanocade and I think I will use it again. Reminds me of MameWah, only much better looking and it actually works with Windows 7. Highly RECOMMENDED!
MameWah Very popular and simplistic front-end for Linux / Ubuntu and Windows. Doesn't work very well with Windows 7 though. RECOMMENDED
Maximus Arcade Very nice looking front-end, but it's not free and it is based on Flash and that makes is super demanding on your hardware. Looks fantastisk though. RECOMMENDED!
mGalaxy Simple and sleek interface for Windows
Wah!Cade Probably the best Apple front-end. It's free and based on the PC variant called MameWah.
Ultrastyle Only MAME, maybe a tad outdated ;)

Some of these programs are gonna be outdated as it's from a old txt document I have
But there are lots. Google could help here

old interface, now also takes NOT_A_REEL for printer and similar
applications MCFG_STEPPER_START_INDEX(int index) - the old second line
of the interface, the position (in half steps) where the optic tab
first triggers. MCFG_STEPPER_END_INDEX(int index) - the old third
line of the interface, the last position (in half steps) where the
optic tab triggers. MCFG_STEPPER_INDEX_PATTERN(int pattern) - a coil
pattern in hexadecimal that has to be on the motor for the index to
trigger (0 if no specific pattern is needed)
MCFG_STEPPER_INIT_PHASE(int phase) - starting phase of the motor

All drivers have been updated, testing done to all specific drivers -

-Started developing a CPU core for the series of processors based on the
ARCompact instruction set, namely the ARCtangent A-5. This is still preliminary,
the disassembly is mostly complete but the output could still be tidied, and
many instructions are not yet implemented and based on code execution some of
the ones that are could be incorrect. This is currently used by the 'leapster'
driver. [David Haywood]

Postby damotheking » Thu Jan 01, 2015 2:21 pm

yeh ive really got to get my mame collection sorted.
today i went to update and i noticed i had
downloaded the 155 update and thought my 148 romset was the 151 romset so my
head has been spinning
if you did not label the 148 iso's install disks ZX81v2 that you had uploaded
which i backed up on my hdd i would be very lost

so can i use the same process as 151 to 155 update

since im on 148
go from 148 to 151 to 155?

Re: ZX81v2's M.A.M.E. Thread !

Postby ZX81v2 » Thu Jan 01, 2015 2:35 pm

You can trash your 148 rom sets if you want to. Everything is included in the 151 sets
Keep your CHD's as most, if not all should work with 155.

You can copy any other folder like CHD's,Artwork,Samples, snaps etc.. to your new MAME folder.
The 148 set was my first attempt at making a working only set.

The 151 build is more stable and has correct files included.
You need the 151 BASE to use my update ISO's.
151 > 155 includes all updated working games from 151,152,153,154 and 155
The next update will contain 156,157 and 158 updated working roms but will still require
MAME 151 > Upgrade ISO to 155 > Upgrade ISO to 158. in this order
Else you will end up out of sync with current versions of MAME roms and some games will fail.

MAME 0.151 is my BASE version of MAME for any future updates

note : 157 is current release 31-12-14.
You don't NEED to upgrade to this if you don't want to ! 155 works great.
Next version release = Next Update ISO

@Damo - All the BIOS files are included in the ROMS folder :)
I used to keep them separate, but can't be arsed to now days !
Yeah LD's are huge ! Equivalent to 12" Vinyl LP
10+ gig of space though - and that is HUGE for how old the LD's are !
Used to own The game pictured above too !! (LaserDisk anyway)
Sold it about 15 years ago (SPACE ACE)

Postby ZX81v2 » Fri Jan 23, 2015 2:28 pm

As far as I know the 157 has the same working CHD's and no new ones work yet...
I could be wrong... Best way to check is to load MAMEUI, goto Folderlist > CHD's
and check there.
Green icon = working
Red Icon = Broken
(using default mameui icons)
If you have icons added extra just remove/change the ICON path in directories
and default icons will be used

However I do know that HAZE has finally sorted the decryption keys for the remaining ST-V games (Maybe 158)

CHD's tend to be slow on the updates, other than changing compression methods. Old v4 CHD's need updating to v5

The Pastebin link is the best place to grab the chd's/LD's as they are doing the v5 udates instead of having to mess with CHDMAN

At some point soon, the v4 chd's will be scrapped by MAME in place for the v5's only.
If a game refuses to load (Checksum error) then you need to get the updated v5.
Until then , v4's work still !

If MAME pass's the audits on the CHD's then they are correct. Right moue on one and click Audit
to Audit the one game at a time. Handy if you have a problem with one set etc...

Other than that, congrats damo. welcome to MAMEUI(FX)

-Updates to SEGA 315-5881 encryption / compression device emulation
[Andreas Naive, Metallic, David Haywood, ANY]
* update algorithm based on based on findings from Virtua Striker 2 '98
* correctly hooked up chip in ST-V, Model 2 and Model 3 drivers
* added support for multiple blocks in encrypted streams
* added support for different height/widths of compressed data steams
* found keys for many games allowing for per-game simulations to be removed
and fixing badly decompressed graphics in several games
* found some correlation between keys and Sega part numbers

- For ST-V :
- Final Fight Revenge boots and is playable
- Elandoree has correct textures, more playable

release
- Tecmo World Cup '98 has correct Tecmo logo / Title screen
- Steep Slope Sliders, Radiant Silvergun no longer use custom protection
simulations (end result is the same)

- For Model 2:

simulations (end result is the same)

requires ROM patches to avoid it

Ambulance, and The Ocean Hunter no longer use custom protection
simulation (end result is the same)
- Virtua Striker 2 '98 / '99 (Model 3) no longer hang at kickoff
(previous simulation was wrong?)

- For Hikaru:
- Star Wars Arcade Racer now has a key (315-5881 is not hooked up
in the driver because it does not get far enough in MAME)

-updates to the Sega 315-5838 / 317-0029 compression device [David Haywood]
* Documented 315-5838 as the Decathlete protection chip
* Identified 317-0029 (Dead of Alive) as another version of the same thing
based on information from Guru
* Split 'decathlt' handling from stv.c and made into a device, moved the
'doa' simulation from model2.c in there too (preliminary, preparation
to merge code)
* No functional improvements at this time, just refactoring.

without having the necessary files don't kill emulation but simply
display a message to the user. [Fabio Priuli]

-*nix: Bump version and date in man pages. [Wallyweek]

-hikaru.c: added protection key for sgnascar [MetalliC]

with ROM_PARAMETER(tag, value). You look them up through the device
method parameter(tag) which returns the string, or "" if not present.

-i386: sse opcodes improvements [Samuele Zannoli]

Re: ZX81v2's M.A.M.E. Thread !

Postby ZX81v2 » Sun Feb 15, 2015 1:54 pm

Okay, after MANY chats with other users of TiZ I am gonna be sorting some direct links
to the WORKING CHD/GDRoms for MAME as some people are having trouble
with the pastebin site.

This will be in the form of a JDownloader "DLC" file which links to MEGA.
It's not worth uploading the CHD's directly to TiZ so please don't, as they change often
and will just waste space on the servers !

The people who made the Pastebin page are doing a damn fine job !
Make sure you read the FIRST post in this thread before downloading, with JDownloader !

I will add the DLC file to FIRST post when sorted. And EDIT this one to say so !

EDIT : Attachment Added to First post
