Wiikey fusion replaces the dvd drive, not the board.
I doubt a GC will boot without the board operating properly, any pro's here please correct me:)

There are tons of tutorials out there as well seeing the GC is 17 Y.O console

Please at least try to find pertinent info before posting wildy shots in the dark.
Posting your current model # and region type would be a help...as said in previous post/

I havent owned a GC since 2008...yikes ( time to get one:D)

Just get a Wii, softmod it, play Gamecube games, play Wii games. No more soldering bull.

Haven't been able to find any for sale for quite some time (at least a year now).

Yeah, i didn't think you could get them now either, there was a clone version called the wasp fusion i think but they stopped doing that too.

OP - check the threads as i think there was info on alternative soldering points for the Xeno although i'm not sure how clear they were.

Weird, ive chipped dozens of cubes and not had any problems with the DVD drives at all. Just pop in the chip, tweak the pot and they have been good to go with my mini dvd-r. Using imgburn across 3 different burner hardwares i've had no trouble. Are you tweaking the pot?

Personnally,i don't tweak pot, somone say me it's not recommanded, that's why i try a lot of brand of dvd-r and i finally found the mediacode fitting with my ngc.
but i think you don't have the same case like me

Its def recommended to pot tweak after chip is installed (and use a multimeter). Oh, and I have viper case and normal cases on my GCs. Click the spiler to see :D
