Modding a Dreamcast to use Hard drive

Postby Berzerk » Thu Apr 05, 2018 4:45 pm

Was wondering if this was even worth it because I have read Dreamshell is not 100%. Does anyone know some one that can do the hard drive Mod.

Pretty much what I have been seeing is that it sounds like it is using a emulator to read the disc images off the hard drive. I have a extra Dreamcast but if this way is only a emulator not working 100% it does not sound like it is worth it. All my dreamcast lasers still work so I may just wait until a laser goes completely bad in one then modify it.

well i wanted to be able to use a HDD because the disk drives are way to loud, load times would be quicker on an hdd, and no need to burn disks anymore , from what i have seen compatibility looks pretty good to me, i know there is a few games that have issue

Can the Dreamcast connect via LAN by an extra adapter?
Would it be posible to read ISOs via LAN? Like connecting to a local server?

For me it's totally worth it. The "Dreamshell SD/IDE games pack" works great! :D

With a "No GDROM" BIOS you can remove the optical drive, but you need the BIOS mod for that.
