old but not too much old

Postby JnSnchz » Wed Aug 16, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi, someone remember the old sport's games for ps2 and pc like nhl 08, nba live 2005 and fifa 2005?
They were very fun, currently the sport's games are too realistic for me :| :|

I know, i was playing on Fifa 17 the other day against Millwall and got hit by a coin. Got a nasty cut on my cheek now!

Way to realistic.

I'm an Ice-Hockey fan but I don't like EA NHL series these days, I still prefer 2K's series and that's why I'm still playing NHL 2K7 on PS3, NHL 2K6 on 360 or ESPN NHL 2K5 on PS2 (PC with PCSX2).

Also Beach Spikers on GameCube, International SuperStar Soccer 2000 on N64, ISS 2 & 3 on PS2 and NBA Jam on SNES, Saturn or Arcade (MAME).

The newest "sports" game I really love is Rocket League (PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbone)

My childhood in box, gray box called PlayStation 1...
I grew on NHL, crash bandicoot and gex...
And yeah, too much is too much. Games aren't meaned to be realistic, games are meaned to let you try something what is impossible in real life like fighting terrorist, fly through streets witth 250 m/h with 4L of nitro or fly from planet to planet and kill every ship in range. This is how was videogames originaly meaned and IHMO modern games are shits, generaly, not just sport games.

FIFA 2005 PC, IMO the most smooth and fun-to-play of entire series...
a paradox, sure, but sometimes i replay it gladly :)

in second position i put FIFA 95 Megadrive/Genesis (10 years before!)
so in my case is only a matter of taste ;)

Sports games nowadays are graphically impressive but when it comes to fun…meh.

I used to play a lot of sports games back in the day. Kings of the Beach (DOS), Nintendo World Cup and Tennis (Game Boy), Goal! Goal! Goal! (Arcade), FIFA 96 and NBA Live 96 (Mega Drive), NHL 99 and F1 World Grand Prix 2 (N64), Road to World Cup 98 and World Cup 98 (PC) and finally ISS/PES on the PS2 are surely the ones I played the most. I tend to go back to NBA Live 96 and F1 World GP 2 (now on the Dreamcast) quite often. And Tony Hawk 2 is still great fun (then PS1, now DC).

A few oldies but hey, it all comes down to personal tastes :D

Yes I remember them as being fun for about 5 mins then I get bored and play other types of games, never got into traditional sport type of video games as I always thought that activily taking part in the real games with friends was a lot more fun.

I do know what you mean by the modern sport games as being very realistic as while I was playing a football match on the latest FIFA game, at one of Manchester's football grounds a mancunian tried to steal my shorts. A typical Manc does not just try to steal the contents of your pockets, they run off with your entire pants.

I used to play football at my hometown club for a couple of years and I had a “ritual” before every match (Sunday morning): watch an episode of Captain Tsubasa and play a match of FIFA. This got me all pumped up for the real deal.

Personal fave old sports games:
Match Point on the ZX Spectrum.
EA/NHL Hockey on the Megadrive (the US version with proper teams - not the crap we got in Europe).
Sensible Soccer on the Amiga.
The original Everybodys Golf on PS1.
International Track and Field on PS1.
NFL Quarterback Club 98 on N64 (not sure why this is my fave American football game, but it is).
Pro Evolution Soccer (aka. World Soccer: Winning Eleven 5) on PS2.

Did you tried FIFA on 3DO? That game was awesome. Great party game since you can daisy-chain 6 controllers. :D
