EA pulled off the next EA. DLC for their DLC.

Postby Sabkahn » Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:17 pm

Somehow I was still surprised about this. EA is now selling a DLC pack for Sims 4 that requires another DLC pack to acces all of it´s content, essentialy making it DLC for a DLC pack.

E/A Eats/Ass this entire generation of gaming is completely ruined by the corporate greed of DLC and loot boxes. Pretty much sit me one should look into filing a lawsuit on game companies that do this selling a game they call complete then day one DLC false advertising.

EA needs to go away. They're ruining gaming year by year. Hell, nearly every Western dev does the large amount of DLC/loot boxes (save for DOA, that game has absurd amounts of DLC)

Japanese devs usually have better games, so EA and Ubisoft can suck a fat one.

Eastern Europe is getting there though. The Metro Series is excellent, CD Projekt Red is IMO one of the best Dev Teams out there and Warhorse made something really different with Kingdom Come, and it isn´t even a bad game. I wouldn´t be too surprised if we see much more great games from that region in the future.

But I agree that EA has to die, the sooner the better. At this point I can´t understand why any Studio with any proud would be willing to get bought by EA. Guess their first paychecks have to be really good. If I had a somewhat succesful Studio, I would much rather see it go bankrupt with pride than sell out to EA.

That is a very narrow view of East/Middle European gaming industry. Just Poland alone has not only CD Projekt Red, but also; Techland(Dead Island, Dying Light,Call Of Juarez...), People Can Fly(Painkiller,Bulletstorm), Flying Wild Hog(Shadow Warrior, Hard Reset), The Astronauts(The Vanishing of Ethan Carter)... Mafia franchise was created in Chech Republic, then there is Bohemia Interactive who with their ARMA series, then there is STALKER franchise made in Ukraine, Wargaming(World Of Tanks/Warships/Planes) from Belarus. Then there is Croteam from Croatia with the Serious Sam franchise and Talos Principle. Those are just a few I can list from the top of my head.

WTF how is even possible? Why is this a thing? Why do we need more than 1 dlc to access one piece of damn content? This is confusing. EA needs to fuck off. Even though they somehow removed battlefront 2 microtransactions I'm still not buying it and will still play my original battlefront 2 2005 steam copy. I am now boycotting EA.

I know that I only scratched the surface with my 3 much more recent examples, but then again I have to admit that I didn´t even know that People Can Fly and Flying Wildhog are from that Region to begin with. Heck, two of my all time favourites are from the Chech Republic (Mafia and Vietcong), I loved the Polish made NecroVisioN games (those guys also made Painkiller Hell & Damnation), Techland made one of the most underrated, yet most unique and greatest Rally Games of all Time: XPand Rally, the two games in that franchise are the only Racing Games that not only simulate the car damage but also damage to the driver, one of the best WWII flight Sims, IL-2 Sturmovik, is from Russia. I know that the list of great East European (I consider everything east of germany as east europe) games is already long, but I feel that in a lot of cases people don´t really realize from where those games came, they target a niche audience or they are a commercial flop.

I'm so happy that I don't play modern games. This shit would really make give up on gaming. lol
The only DLC i ever purchased was for Skyrim, Dawnguard and Dragonborn and they were worth it. But the shit nowadays is insane.

i dont see the issue here. If dlc 2 requires some assets from the first dlc whats the problem. Are there people out there that only buy 1 of the 2 dlcs anyway.

The Problem is obviously that the content of DLC 2 should have been part of DLC 1 in the first place or at least part of a free Update. The issue is that DLC 1 is a 40€ purchase with far less content than the equaly priced Sims 3 Pets Expansion, wich for included some of the stuff included in the 10€ DLC2 for Sims 4. And yes, I can see some people being much more likely to buy a 10€ Stuff pack rather than a 40€ Expansion Pack, especially considering that this is the first case of a Stuff Pack essentialy requiring a different expansion. And the Problem is that they don´t even tell you what you can acces without the DLC1. If you really can´t see the Problem of a DLC needing another DLC then you are part of the Problem.

A disgrace to the gaming industry. At least indie companies (and some major ones) are not following EA's microtransaction bullcrap.
