Dreamshell SD/IDE games pack

Postby thedoctor45 » Mon May 22, 2017 3:22 pm

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of compiling a large (200+) collection of DC iso games for use with the Dreamshell OS including custom lauch scripts and icons for each game. It can be copied onto any flash- or harddrive with at least 128 GB of storage capacity. All games have been tested for functionality on a PAL Dreamcast and fully support VGA output.

I was thinking about sharing my compilation here on this site so I wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in downloading such a pack.

take care

Alrighty then, give me a few more days to polish everything up for a release.

This is what it currently looks like btw, I got around 180 retail titles working atm + some Homebrew stuff and Neo4All ports.

I've finished my own 44pin IDE mod just recently as well but I'm currently still waiting for the IDE to CF adapter I ordered a while ago so I can't really test IDE compatibility atm - some Windows CE based games should work through IDE apparently so we'll see.

Would this work with an NTSC DC? Either way, good work! Looking forward to downloading it!

I don't see why not, many of the games I've tested on my PAL Dreamcast were NTSC versions so they must have been patched or something - I've ordered a Japanese import Dreamcast a few days ago so I could test everything on there again in about one or two weeks just to make sure but that'll postpone the release ofc.

Do you provide this as a service? If so let me know. I'm interested and can provide a 160gb hdd unless 128 is needed. I have a sega sports dreamcast.

You mean as in charge money for it? Not really, I was planning on making the download + install instructions freely available but if your internet connection is too slow to handle a 70+ GB download I guess I could set up a drive for you. The problem is I live in central europe so shipping costs to overseas countries & waiting times might be an issue.

If you need an IDE mod for your Dreamcast I suggest you buy a modded one off of eBay. They usually also have a modchip /region free bios installed. Or you try to do it yourself - it's really not that hard and if you have ever soldered before it shouldn't be an issue - the wiring is just a little tedious and takes some time that's all. Cable management is another thing tho ^^

Here's a pic showing the wiring for a 44pin IDE mod:

The install instructions for the pack will be included in the download, which I will mirror to my mediafire account and/or zippyshare if neccessary.

take care

I am looking forward to this! If you could upload it to a cloud service like 1fichier (which is fast and cheap), that would be awesome. I am, especially interested in seeing the icons.

I'm just curious, but what kind of drive are you using?

CAn wait to download it.... I saw yesterday a new HDD SATA Mod designed in brazil, which is made onto the gd-rom board adding an ide-sata converter and adapting an sata port to it, so you still can use the GD-rom and the HDD simultaneously. The problem is the tutorial seems to have fade out from internet in recent days... I fount a lotta pictures here in the iso zone, but videos in the official channel, and the channel itself are gone, worst nobody related to the project seems to be answering questions anymore. This is the ultimate mod for me... I was thinking on buying an Dream IDE Reborn Rev.3 fo 35 US$ but I live in colombia and though is nearer to brazil than US is still a mess to transfer the money and the product price escalates to a whooping 120USD$ Shipping included to my home in Medellín. I've currently have the SD internal mod, and im sticking to it, and emulation, got three dreamcast myself but take extremely obsessive care of them and though they're on perfect shape I do not like to wear the lenses. Changing of subject, I was wondering, would you consider making a torrent for the whole package when you're finished polishing? It would be great for those with a slow connection, if its not too much hassle.
PD: If anyone seems to have the instructions on how to do the mod I described, I would really apreciate some feedback, or if anyone still has the video tutorials and could handle them.. that'd be great. Thank you everyone. Cheers from my beautiful Medellín. :lovetiz:

I'm currently using an external modified SD adapter that plugs into the serial port of the Dreamcast. I also ordered a 128 GB KingSpec IDE Disc on Module though which should be small enough to fit inside the DC case so I don't have to deal with the ugly IDE cable hanging out of the machine.

I can upload the files to me seedbox and mirror them from there so a torrent shouldn't be a problem.

No problem I have them uploaded on my cloud app account:

They are 48x48 pixel in size but I can provide 64x64 pixel versions as well if anyone is interested.
