DC mains transformer exchange! [resolved]

i stripped down my new cast to see the metal (again) with my own eyes...(i was stroking her steelies) and now that's over (still geeking out that i now i own one) can i transplant the mains transformer board (psu 110v ac 60hz) for a UK one?? (psu 230/250v ac 50/60hz....the physical pcb dimensions are aligned perfectly) into an "NTSC-U" cast?? i did the full DUDCKDUCKGO routine but can't get a straight answer...thanks for any help on this!!!

i've plenty of uk mains boards and i can see why it's only too easy to blow it up by using the standard cassette tape player lead (8) because british electric is the s*** and the strongest on the planet...(a bit f***in' much) i was supplied the step-down transformer and the whole things great...i put the cast back together and no issues whatsoever........playing a bit of ORB on it...(very fitting)

ya man you can install a uk power supply in that no probs then run it off the uk mains

Oh hold on now, is that one of those original heatpipe Japanese dreamcasts? If it is I'm pretty sure I read something on assembler about UK power supplies dying quite quickly in those machines, I will look it up!

I don;t think they die straight away, but are you sure it's a US model, I thought there were only heatpipes on the original japanese dreamcasts, correct me if I'm wrong though haha.

Oooh hold the phone, (sorry to be such a nuisance) If it's a VA0 motherboard, you might have some troubles with the power supply eventually breaking and overheating because the chipset draws more current than the PAL power supplies are designed for.

^^ noted!! however since i've not run into any issues (yet?) i won't fix what isn't broken.....(i make a point of checking it before playing, as with all my machines modified or otherwise..)

fair enough!! i've kept the original pcb and put it in storage as it's the only one i've got!! uk pcb's on the other hand.....
(i'm not aware of replacement r.0 psu's available...)
