It looks like there was one, but it was for XBLA...

Seems like the PS2, is better suited for that range of games.

the best platform for roguelike is the pc. i've seen quite a few of pretended "roguelikes" on recent consoles when in truth they were just classic rpg with some RNG, but nothing really random like a typical nethack or true rogue type.

I have also searched high and low for Xbox roguelikes, but have found nothing.

I’ve been considering writing one for the Dreamcast using the viewpoint from Torneko (PS1), time permitting...

What's the difference between a rogue like and a dungeon crawler like Baldur's Gate?

Essentially in a Roguelike you have that rooms, items and enemies are generated randomly. Every game has something different.

Hmm, okay. What about turn based combat? I looked at the Wiki list and seemed to be a lot of turn based combat, that's the one thing that always turned me off to new Final Fantasy games.

I wouldn't call Baldur's Gate a dungeon crawler because you do a lot more than trudge through dungeons. Unless you're talking about the Dark Alliance games, which would come closer to that genre. When I think of dungeon crawlers, I think of stuff like the Wizardry games or Dungeon Master.

One notable requirement of Roguelikes not mentioned yet is that death is permanent. I believe that's why the levels are generated randomly because it makes successive plays after your death feel more fresh. You can play Diablo as a Roguelike if you erase your save after dying or play on the hardest difficulty, which I believe includes permadeath.

Well, as much as i know not all are turn based, for instance The binding of Isaac or Spelunky(this one is not properly a roguelike but more platform)

I've only played the two on Xbox. Thanks for the reply, I've got a pretty good idea now.
