Xmugen - how to play from the Hard Drive?

Postby XC-3730C » Fri Nov 24, 2017 9:09 pm

I have seen countless tutorials on this subject, but many people including myself haven't gotten any of the Xmugen releases to work from the hard drive. I have a v1.1 Xbox TSOP'd, XBMC4XBOX as my dashboard (latest, version 3.5.3), and my hard drive is a 500gb SATA with IDE adapter.

The Hard Drive has an F partition that is 120GB/16k clusters, and the rest is on the G partition. I copy the xmugen folder to the F:/Games folder, and when I launch it, I see the picture of the guy on the top left side of the screen, then it loads a bunch of files and just stops. I am using a Microsoft S-controller. I even read that it may work through UnleashX, but it didn't work for me. I am trying Xmugen EvE (Everything vs Everything).

If anyone can tell me how to get Xmugen to successfully work, please respond!

I have found xmugen to not work on SATA drives, for some reason they do not like the adapters, I've tried multiple ones and never got any mugen from F working, mugen mainly likes IDE drives

I have gotten the Epic Battle one working from the E drive with SATA adapters, most of the ones you put in E:\mugen seemed to work fine on them

Also it seems to be picky about controllers and won't work with certain ones

As I explained in my OP, I use Microsoft S-controller, because I know how picky it is about controllers.

At the bottom of the screen, it just stops at the following message:

Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

you tried my xmguen build: http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/xbo ... as-xmugen/
I spent time putting this together for easy F:/ booting - but this was only tested on IDE....

Yeah it'll always show that because of the adapter and SATA drive. Have you tried loading a smaller mugen build from E:\mugen?

Putting a mugen that was built for F:\games\xmugen in E:\mugen usually won't work either, it has to be one that has a CFG file you put right in E
