Take a look at the forum thread on xbmc4xbox.org.uk - [UPDATE].[Skin.Nxe.Twist] Programs / Games / Files Views

There are a lot of files to be added, the thumbs and icons, to get the awesome looking results seen. Without them, its bland.

Too bad the video preview links in that thread seem to all be dead. Have not tried everyone though so there may be a few live.

I have not used that skin but in general game icons/thumbnails are applied to each game's or other folders individually manually. You can use any PNG/JPG but you must rename it: "default.tbn" for XBMC to use it.

The same applies to applications, emulators, home-brew games, music, videos etc.

I standardise on the 256x256 size for everything and always try to keep the file size as small as possible without compromising quality.

Xbox game save icons are a different matter; they are annoying little blighters because in the absence of a "default.tbn" XBMC (and UnleashX) will use the TitleImage.xbx in UDATA. This is OK for the game saves but if you're using any XBMC menu view other than the List they are so small (128x128) and poor quality they look rubbish. Again the same applies to any apps, emus etc which have created UDATA folders too.

You can replace them with better quality ones using a XBX conversion tool but its easier to use "default.tbn" even if you have to design a replacement icon yourself.

Another very annoying feature of XBMC is that once a thumbnail has been created it will be tied to that purpose and used before any new replacement. So if you've booted XBMC and looked through Programs, Music, Videos and so on all the existing icons are automatically saved.

To replace them you need to apply the new ones then delete all the saved content in the XBMC > UserData > thumbnails > Programs, Pictures, Music, Videos etc > 1-9, a, b, c, d, e and f folders.

Restart XBMC, and, after a little delay whilst they're being applied to each particular folder when you first open it, the new "default.tbn" thumbnails will be used.

There's a hell of a lot more to using/image file type extensions/creating/naming/applying/recommended sizes for thumbnails, icons, fanart, posters, previews etc than this of course.

The skins look nothing like the video previews one sees. There are 100's of megabytes of additional content that must be added manually.

Similar additions needed for the XBMC Origin skin to look like the videos one finds.

Look to XMBC Skin Development forum threads for more information.
