Aladdin XT - Flash not writeable

Postby Fixified » Sun Aug 07, 2016 2:28 am

Hello guys! So i decided to fix up my Xbox tonight as of the modchip wasnt working at all. I went over all the soldering points and the chip now "works".

The chip installed is a Aladdin XT 49lf020a. I tried to reflash it (holding the power button for 2-5 seconds) by using HeXEn, Slayer's disc, EvoX, but all i get is "flash not writeable".

Have tried googling how to unlock flash on this chip but didn't find anything that worked for me, so therefore i'm asking TIZ for some help on how to do this.

Any help is appreaciated, thanks for now :)

EDIT: it's a 1.6, forgot to add that (:

Make sure these entries are in the evox.ini

Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000
Flash = 0xbf52,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000
Flash = 0xdab0,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000

Also did you attach the bt wire to the board? Or to ground on the chip?

Hi you can try using Gentoox with a bios of your preference to flash the alladin xt but before flash make sure the bios you want to flash is the right size for your modchip because Gentoox wont resize the bios like Evox do i think the bios size on alladin xt is 256k but before check the correct size to make sure of you alladin xt bios then flash using Gentoox,Gentoox is based on raincoat can flash all types of tsop and modchips and make sure the alladin xt modchip is correctly installed and the BT conection correctly installed with the write protection disabled. :mrgreen:

Other option is flash the sst chip with a external compatible programmer

Is there a way to actually disable the write protection on the aladdin xt modchip? As stated i already tried holding the power button for 2-5 seconds, tried grounding it etc, i'll try the gentoox now, thanks!

Hello everyone! So i FINALLY found a fix to this to completely disable the write protection feature if you like me for some reason can't get your aladdin xt to flash

What you have to do is solder B1 to L1 and this will bypass/disable the write protection feature the chip offers and you'll be able to flash the chip with ease :D

Hope this will be to help for someone with the same problem!

Thanks for the replies that got me more looking into this. :D
