edit or reset HDD power cycle count & Install date XBMC

Postby volksjager » Tue Sep 19, 2017 10:33 pm

just installed a brand new 2tb WD drive in a v1.0 with xecuter 5035
crystal disk info showed 0 hours and 1 power cycle when i got the drive
after installing it XBMC System Info shows 400+ power cycles and an install date of 2001
is there are way to edit or reset this? i would like it just to show the correct SMART data of the drive.

I think XBMC is showing the Xbox's stats not the HDD's.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like the system's information, not that specific drive's information. It shouldn't affect performance.

I know where the boot cycle count is saved on the HDD but it's not easily accessible to modify. There is no xbe to upload to the Xbox to change it. You could use Xplorer360 on a PC to save a backup file of your HDD, hex edit the file, then restore it to the HDD. All just to modify 4 bytes at offset 0x0604-0x607.

Code: Select all
HDD offset: 0x0 0600: 42 52 46 52 [73 03 00 00] 00 22 C2 FE 27 6E C1 01 | BFRFs...."..'n..

Added [ ] around the value of interest. My boot cycle count is 0x00000373 (883 decimal).

Not quite sure of the contents of the next 8 bytes following this count, I think it is the install time/date but have not deciphered the content yet.

I need to look at the source code for XBMC to determine where the two values:

    HDD Install Date, and
    HDD power cycle count
are stored/read from on the Xbox.

well it is definitely not the systems info
i did a clean scratch tsop build today with a brand new drive
using HeXEn 2017 disk to flash X2 5035 and install XBMC
and it listed the power cycles correctly at 2
but it set the install date as 1-1-1601 - :?
