original xbox hard drive capacity

Postby Gam3r_Pal » Tue Jan 16, 2018 6:56 pm

so im going to have a go at soft modding a spare xbox,i was just wandering if anyone knew if i could still fit a decent amount of games on it without swapping to a bigger HD.i know that xbox and ps1 games are quite big file sizes so i was going to avoid those for now, and try adding gba sms snes ect.

any input would be great.
this will be my first attempt,im just getting everything ready first before i attempt it :o

Probably not, my original Xbox only had a 10 GB HDD, and much of that was already taken up by the OS. I only managed to fit 3 games on it.

If you're talking of the original Xbox, then the HDD size can be 8GB or 10GB. There are 5 partitions and you can put games only in one of them, about 4,7 GB of free space. There's coin-ops lite or you can install separate emulators. You can put in a good amount of old games.

thanks Badore, yes im talking about the original Xbox,my intention was to install separate emulators and roms accordingly :) the video guide im going to follow replaces thier hdd with a bigger one but im not going all out modding at the moment i just want to put a decent amount of classic games on there for now.just until im comfortable with getting to this stage.
later on i will be looking to swap out the hdd.

ive got 2 original consoles im leaving untouched and this spare one putting some roms on it.
im waiting for a part to arrive in the post though before i can start anything.ill update with my progress :)

My recommends...

http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/xbo ... s-edition/
http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/xbo ... /xbmc-353/

And if you want to view pics and vids, you could use a thumbdrive for external storage. That XBMC above will work with this...

The catch being you have to find a thumbdrive compatible with Xbox, which usually involves a thumbdrive hunt around your house.

Until you upgrade the HDD you can also burn games and emulators etc to DVD and run them from there. You can put multiple commerical games on one disk (can't remember which program does that).
When you mod your Xbox be sure to save and backup your eprom image!

That works pretty well, as I have done that in the past before I hard modded my box. I still have a spool of multi game discs in storage.

Seriously dude? You are really going to ask this. Its about as basic as a question can get and it was answered online about I dunno 2001....Instead of asking stupid questions why don't you use search feature. IT is what it is there for.

Not everybody started modding their Xboxes back in 2002. Those who did should be more than happy to share their experiences and knowlede with those who are asking for it.

I will have to look into it, as I don't remember how I coded it, but in the Evox ini file you can map a game folder to the D drive and put isos or other emulators on a disc and they will show up in the folder when you select it.

If you are using XBMC, you should be able to navigate to the disc drive and read and launch the isos directly from the menu without much trouble.

I'm a first time modder too...just got an Xbox for Christmas and already softmodded it. I would recommend going with a larger drive right from the start. It will make your life a lot easier. I put a 320 gig in mine.. It was pretty easy and takes very little resources.
