Mod Chip question.

Postby jhark » Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:22 pm

I bought this 160Gb xbox cheap, I works ok but I was wondering.

Will it work already with a 2Tb drive?

If not, what can I flash it with to make it work with 2Tb drive?

Thanks, Joe

It'll work with a 2tb so long as the flash bios is lb48 or whatever compatible so it can see the whole drive
That's all i can help with unless you have a 2tb 2.5" or 3" hdd you can try & it will tell you, once you attempt format at lest i think that's when the warning comes up meh try it see what happens once you have an adapter & the 80 wire ribbon

Thanks, I did try that...failed. It seems that board has some old xenium os installed on it, and won't support 2tb. It wouldn't flash with the normal stuff like IND5003 F G or and others. It just pops up unknown flash.. so I set it aside for another day since I have 20 other xboxes to play with.
It seems to be a cool board If I figure out how to update it.

In other threads i've seen members mention soldering the D.O to allow flashing or stopping the chip from being write protected.
It does appear to be yes.

Can always start a new tread asking for help to write the chip

That's a Xenium Modchip - pre-flashed with Xenium OS. Which version is installed?

The latest version is v2.3.1.

It's a 4th generation modchip with its own OS that's a bit different to use than previous 3rd generation modchips.

To upgrade the Xenium OS there are two options: HDD or DVD recovery.
The switch on the modchip is placed in the recovery mode. Burn a BIOS recovery disk and slide the switch to the opposite side so you can see the white mark below it on the Xenium's PCB. After flashing the new Xenium OS, switch the slide switch back to the normal operation mode (the white mark is hidden below the switch's slide bar).

After Xenium OS Upgrade
Other modified BIOS's can be flashed to the modchip's flash device. Upon booting the console, you can select which to boot or set one as the default BIOS to load when when the Xbox boots.

One additional thing worth mentioning/reminding those using a 2TB HDD is that you must split the free space between F:\ and G:\ drives equally so they're both under the 1TB Xbox supported limit.
