xboxhdm2.2 problem

Postby visio27 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 8:40 pm

Greetings,

I tried to modify the xbox original with kernel:5101 and dashboard:5960 with "xboxhdm2.2".
I'm stuck at the step (see picture) where i need to 'activate xboxhdm Stage 2 on /dev/hda'.
Any solution on why is this happening? (the usb is done correctly by following the instructions here.

P.s Also tried the boot from cd (xboxhdm_v1.9 method) but its not possible cuz the IDE cable connecting cd drive with Motherboard should be connected in order that the option to boot from CD to be available (dont know why).

Remove the cd/dvd drive and only have the HDD plugged in.

It can’t find your drive, it states that.

Try XboxHDM23USB Beta 3. I think this version installs files for Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool. Rocky5 knows! :) I've not used the Beta 3 release.

Last time I worked with PC and Xbox HDD, I used XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 from Sourceforge.net.

To unlock/lock, you need a copy of your Xbox's EEPROM.bin backup. Renamed to all lowercase eeprom.bin and saved to the thumb drive in the same directory where the startup batch file, xboxhd.bat, is located.

Ok but the problem is that i don't have the eeprom.bin file cuz i could not finish all the procedure (it ended with errors, and now im getting the code 21).
I thought that by removing the ide cable from dvd drive of xbox the hdd would be unlocked?

-also according to the link it states:
Place files in this manner inside xboxhdm23usb folder:
1. C drive files in C subfolder of hdm folder.
-where to get these files?
2. E drive files in E subfolder in hdm folder.
-where to get these files?
3. eeprom.bin in xboxhdm23usb folder itself.
-I dont have this file.

-I tried again but this time with xboxhdm v1.9.
~ide cable has 3 connections:
1-blue<it is written mbo> (connected to motherboard)
2-grey<it is written slave>( its connected the dvd drive, the jumper is at the option 'cable select')
3-black<it is written master> (its connected the 'xbox hdd', the jumper is at the option 'cable select').

-I got the error 12(see the picture)
-removed the 'ide cable' from 'xbox hdd' and i connected the 'ide cable (the black part)' which comes from 'pc' to the 'xbox hdd'.
-Booted (see the video) the 'pc' from CD(created from files of 'xboxhdm v1.9' and 'ndure 3.1').

What i am doing wrong, because there are some errors (can be seen in the video).

Please any help would be appreciated.

Im saying this because i get this message after choosing the first option of the xboxhdm v1.9:

INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO

The following drive was found on your prmary master :
ST310014A

Could not access the drive on Primary Master.
Your Xbox drive is locked!
If you continue some of the menu opiton of xboxhd will be disabled.
Be aware of the following linux device names:

Primare Master : /dev/hda
Primare Slave : .devhdb
Secondary Master : /dev/hdc
Secondary Slave : /dev/hdd

Do you wish to continue ? [yes/no] :

How fast are you swapping the cable? You have like 4 seconds to do the swap.

What I used to do back in the day was, get error. Turn Pc on and swap cable right away, as fast as I could.

I am doing it within 4 seconds.
Also i did the following:
1-turned pc on
2-booted on cd
3-paused the pc
4-turned xbox on (while ide cable from the dvd drive is disconnected)
5-as the error 12 appears on screen, disconnected the ide from hdd and within that time (im sure it was less than 4 secs) i connected the hdd to ide master (hdd is master).

so this is what i have done till now but with no results.

Hello again,
To update the situation
All those problems which i have mentioned before are because the HDD would not unlock even after error 12 would appear in the screen.
Since i could not unlock the HDD in this way, i decided to create an XBOX EEPROM READER. Everything went fine and i saved the "eeprom.bin".
So finally with xboxhdm v1.9 i was able to:
1-unlock HDD by choosing option 3 of the xboxhdm v1.9 MENU.
2-softmod it
3-lock again by choosing option 3 of the xboxhdm v1.9 MENU.

NOTE-Final tips on locking/unlocking!:
Most PC Bios-es seems to enable the Freeze Lock command on unlocked drives onbootup. I guess this is a safety measure since you cannot accidentally lock or erase prepare a unit when it's frozen. However when the freeze lock is set you cannot re-lock the drive either. This is rare though and can be disabled in
most bioses by disabling automatic hardware detection on bootup on the Primary
channel (where the HDD is). We dont need this for booting a CD anyway.
Remember to reenable automatic detection on primary master after using xboxhdm
if your regular PC HDD is on primary master and is the boot device.
If your Bios doesn't support disabling of the auto detection your can try to
pull out the IDE cable of the HDD before booting the PC (put with the power
cable in the HDD) and put back the IDE cable when you reach the xboxhdm boot
menu
.

But now i have a remaining question:
Since i have a faulty 'xbox dvd drive' and my xbox is softmoded now, why it still does not boot on 'unleashX' but it shows again the error 12?
Wasn't the softmod supposed to bypass this message and go straight in UnleashX menu?

Regards

Probably because your DVD drive is goosed like you said. The kernel sets this error before the softmod is, well run. Softmods only run after the Xlogo screen.

Change the drive, or make sure all cables are connected properly.

So looks like my only option is to find a new dvd drive because i'm positive that the connections are ok.

Thanks for helping out @Rocky5.

Oh i also forgot to mention, why does the fan makes so much noise now (it spins faster even if the xbox it not hot, and that's after i softmoded it), also the light of the eject tray stays orange, and sometime it changes from red, green.
