FTP issues

Postby kolbjoey1 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 2:10 am

I can’t get any thing to ftp over to my Xbox lately. I can connect to it and start a transfer but it fails shortly after starting. Is there a way I can use dvd-r to transfer my files until I figure out what is going on

Your HDD may be going bad if uploads are failing.

Yes, you can copy files from a DVD disk using a replacement dashboard's file manager. Select the files to copy from D: (the DVD drive) to an HDD partition: C, E, F, G. The later 2 or 3 used for user file storage.

If the HDD is failing, any method of transferring files is likely to fail.

DVD2XBox can be used to install games straight from disc.

Are you connecting using a programme like CXbox to connect? Mine was set up perfectly then all of a sudden I couldn't connect.
I now use a file explorer window, as long as your 'Box is connected to a router, you can do the same.

There are problems if you just want to copy random data files/folders to disc. Particularly with UnleashX there is odd compatibility criteria at work which are not only to to do with the FATX file system. Any folder over 4GB will be split even with XBMC and UnleashX has file explorer display issues with files over 1GB and text files without recognised extensions.

So to avoid this: create an XISO of anything you want to transfer via disc using Qwix or C Xbox Tools v2.7 and burn that to disk and it should be OK.

But I think getting the FTP working should be your main priority,

Another thing I forgot to say that during the ftp process it will say that there is to many users. I'm using file zilla. I don't believe the hard drive is failing. I have a secure network but I believe I may have someone that is using a WiFi password cracking application and using my Internet without my permission. I think that when I'm ftping they are seeing my xbix and are trying to view the filestatus on it

What do you have the max number of user set to in the XBox network settings. I use this guide as a template:

http://www.theisozone.com/tutorials/xbo ... o-an-xbox/

Max numer of users is set to 2

That message pops up occasionally on mine too during transfers and i use a crossover cable so its not anyone else in my network.
