Did I break my xbox?

Postby raffik12 » Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:37 am

I have been working on my xbox more and more recently, but ive noticed that with the RCA cables, there were scrolling fuzzy lines going up on the screen.

I had the same issue with my ps3 years ago, so i purchased component cables, but they do the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? or did I just brick (not really but really) my console? is there any fixes I should take into consideration. Willing to solder.

Have you tried cleaning connectors? Bad connections do lots of weird things. I'd try different tv as suggested. If it clears up, try cleaning the tv's rca connectors. lots of youtube vids on how. If it doesnt clear up with different tv, try cleaning the xbox's connectors. Good luck!

Strangely enough I noticed an issue with most component cables that if you got the red for the signal and the red for the right audio channel mixed up, or plugged the audio into a digital port on the t.v, it would display those purple artifacts.

A lot of xbox's can have grounding issues either with the mainboard or the power supply, you can try putting a ground wire in between the screws of the mainboard and power supply and see if that fixes it, if not then it might be a problem with the power supply

there was a grounding issue with the video.

When I was grounding it, it was working clean, and I accomplished dropping my screwdriver into the machine. And I fried it. Anyone want a fried xbox?
