I reviewed one of the rarest and expensive Sega Saturn RPGs

Postby St1ka » Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:38 pm

Hi everyone, this week I reviewed Magic Knight Rayearth for the Sega Saturn, considered as one of the rarest and most expensive RPGs for the console.

I'd love to hear your feedback and I really hope you'll enjoy the video! :D

I had no idea this went for so much now. I ordered a copy in 2012 from an Amazon seller for $80.

Bummer, sounds pretty sucky. I would have fallen for it too with all the awesome packaging. Though I may try the free online version, if you catch my meaning. I've run into games like this before. Just too Japanese to get into. Bad RPGs for girls. They are out there, beware.

Wow, that's a great return on investment

Oh the game isn't bad, just not great. It's good, but nothing spectacular. A 7 out of 10 for me

Nice vid man. A big plus to me is how eye popping the colors are, especially when you are in the forest level. It also kind of plays like Loz - the four swords in a way. The mighty TIZ has this game, so I will most likely give this game a shot. Subscribed. I really like the effort you put in these vids. :)

I love this game, i guess an acquired taste from the art style to the cheesey cutscenes and working designs always put a lot of humour into their translations which i myself like adds a few LOLS i even like the snes version of the game :)

What's SSF?

NVM, I just googled it. I suppose you can only run this on a POWERFUL PC, right?

I got around the whole "super expensive Sega Saturn stuff" by just importing the games from Japan a couple years ago before the import market got so busy. I got a limited edition Magic Knight Rayearth for like $10 and all I needed was a Game Shark (also surprisingly easy to find) and a nonchalant attitude about the whole language barrier.

Got Resident Evil, Clockwork Knights 1&2, Gex, Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Wisdom, House of the Dead and more the same way too. Over there the ones we have at some of the highest prices they were practically giving them away. A cheat cartridge, a little FAQ and playthrough reference now and then and you can save literally hundreds of dollars on your Saturn collection.
