PCE/TurboGFX-16 seperate sound files ????

Postby arcaneous » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:58 pm

so i'm working on wiiflow project and noticed in my launchbox games i had skipped the PCE/TurboGFX-16...so i decided oh damn i need to get a rom set for that...so look on google and found this

PCE TurboGFX 16 [Verified]
<not allowed to post link> well its on this site...

didn't find the repack 'til after i was looking on this question...

PCE TurboGFX 16 Fullset [Repack of RRP]
<not allowed to post link> well its on this site too...

oh well...so i have been working with roms and emulators for a long time...but i never saw this...the roms are associated with a separate rom file that is a sound file ????huh????

ex.
Cyber Core (U).pce
Cyber Core Sounds.pce

now i know the PCE/TGFX16 had separate audio channels, a digital signal and an FM signal. But how does this work for roms and emulators? i would think it should be embedded into the rom...but that doesn't seem to be the case here. so, where do these sound roms go? for now i'm just putting all the roms into separate .zip files with their respective sound roms. but should they be renamed?

ex.
Cyber Core (U).pce
Cyber Core Sounds.pce

to

ex.
Cyber Core (U).pce
Cyber Core (U) Sounds.pce

i don't know...i've looked on google and i can't find anything on this...i'm at a lose here, i am such a noob at PCE/TGFX16 emulation.

The NoIntro set contains none of this horse████. Sound roms might just be music or sound effects, dunno without trying, and I don't care to drag my TG-16 out and test it on the Everdrive.

i think, but am not certain, that it is just an extra and isnt needed.
why not simply try to play a game without the "Sounds"one and see what happens?
