Combine Multiple Bin Files Of PSX Games

Postby tdelios » Tue Nov 21, 2017 2:26 am

I noticed that some PSX games contain one cue file and multiple bin files.

I have read very old posts that people use Daemontool lite or alcohol 120% and a combination of imgburn to get around this problem.. but from reading blogs, Daemon and Alcohol requires you to now buy it and people said their latest versions no longer can combine the psx bin files so don't bother wasting your money.
What tools and/or methods have others used recently in order to combine multiple psx bin files as one? thx.

@mrpink999
I did read the tutorial, but as per my post.. DamonTools Lite now requires you to pay for the feature that is outlined in the tutorial steps.. And from talking to other members, even that paid feature has been tweaked so that it doesn't allow for psx games. Unless someone has an extremely older version of it.

any other suggestions?

.... If the BIN's have been made correctly, you just BURN the cue. It should sort all the other BIN files out.

If you OPEN the CUE file with NOTEPAD, you'll see the BIN lines. If they are there, just burn it !

The BIN files are stripped WAV files, after the first BIN (The game data)
So burning them to disk using the CUE will write the Audio correctly.

PSX from this state of BIN's ain't hard work or complex. OGG files, that's more work....

Older versions of Daemon Tools Lite
http://theisozone.com/downloads/misc/fr ... ools-lite/
or
http://theisozone.com/downloads/dreamca ... mon-tools/

ImgBurn
http://theisozone.com/downloads/pc/other/imgburn-v258/

OR

If you MOUNT the CUE file using Daemontools (Old) you can then READ the Virtual Drive using ImgBurn and make a single CUE/BIN file from the mounted image.

Your not on your own on this "Issue"... Lots have come before you.....
If confuses a LOT of people. However, the upshot from this is that when the disk image is burned, it's a TRUE 1 to 1 image of the original media. If the audio had been converted to another format, it would have become "lossy" and CRC's would not match in ANY way, meaning it's not a true 1 to 1 image as the Audio data is wrong thanks to "lossy"

One other thing to remember about CUE files is that all the AUDIO start and stop points are contained in the cue (Under second BIN line and downwards in cue). Without these, you have NO soundtrack !

I'm not trying to burn them to a CD.. I want to use RetroPie or Recalbox to play them within their emulator.

If I simply unzip the rom game that contains multiple bin and a single cue file into the Recalbox or RetroPie, can I avoid using any tools altogether?

Using ImgBurn you can create a file from disc or image from folders

What ZX has explained is the simplest way to do this, very easy actually

Give it a go> always mount the .CUE

In *some cases the .cue may/ may not be correct
(we have users not in the know rename their files before uploading)

Use Imgburn to create a .cue, >tools> create .cue file

You need these simple tools to do this. Grab the older versions here onsite, they are some of the best versions out there ATM/

Thanks everyone for all your help.. I got it to work now..

few things to mention.. the download links that you provided to get the older versions of Daemon Tools contains viruses and malware according to AVG and Norton Anti-Virus.. so I was able to get a clean version from oldversion<dot>com

Also, in the Daemon Version I have, the buttons on step #2 are not there are not needed.

Basically start with step 1.. after install run Daemon Tools and then jump to Step 3 and continue.

^ Norton is biggest crap on face of earth, i am suprised people still use it, while AVG and Avast are on far away second and third place. They Trigger false positives on anything.

Avoid
McAffe
Norton

Complete junk.

Kaspersky
Panda
BitDefender

^^ I have used all these PAID AV's over the years and ANY of those listed above are a lot lighter on system use.

Avoid FREE unless you really have no option.

The AV Market is huge. Some excellent software out there, that gets looked over when it's perfectly good

ANY file that old on TiZ would have been checked in case of contamination. Plus the comment list would be HUGE by now...

You will find out that a lot of cracks/no-cd patches are killed by anti-Virus programs.... They are not virus's OR trojans... They are simply PAID for by company's

Not everything Black n White looks Pink...

Trust me, we check a lot of files on TiZ to make sure they are clean from anything that could potentially damage your PC. If any are found
i. Links are killed in download
ii. File(s) Are downloaded and SANDBOXED for scanning
iii. If nasty's are found the page is nuked/or a replacement is found and the uploader gets a bollocking !
iv. If clean and just FALSE Positives, comment is left and links reinstated

Hope this keeps you calm :)
