Popstarter

Postby wshirk » Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:39 am

So i have been looking into ps1 backups on the ps2, and have run into Popstarter, the problem i am having is finding the official sony copyrighted files, so if someone could PM me, and point me in the right direction, i would be forever greatful. I have a 50000 ps2 with HDD, and would like to get this going, and understand the process. If anyone can help great, and if not i totally understand, i would not even ask, but my search has been exhausted. Thanks and have a great rest of your day/night whichever it is for you!

The hard drive route is definitely the way to go. I've tried successfully with USB, so that's a good alternative if you can't get the hard drive option to work. However, I don't recommend doing it over SMB if that's an option for you. I've tested several games, all of them compatible with POPS, over SMB and for the life of me I can't figure out why it won't boot past the PS Logo. It's just stuck there forever. I can get out by doing the in-game reset command, which brings up the POPS menu to exit the game, but other than that, nothing.

Anyway, if you haven't found the files you need, send me a PM. I can point you to them.

What's a good tutorial for setting up Popstarter/PS1 games on a PS2 HDD via OPL? Is there a good compatibility list?

Thanks for the tip. I am glad you got it working!!!

P.S. What's a good tutorial to get PS1 games to show up in OPL, rather than having to manually launch an ELF file?
