Playing PSX backups on PSX with disc swap trick without lag

Postby FireFire273 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:39 am

Hi, I recently tried to play a PSX backup on my original PS via the disc swap trick and whenever the backup loads, the FMVs and game lags like crazy, I'm using a SCPH-7001 model and my disc drive can only burn up to 24x, what do I do?

Try burning at a different speed.

Burn speed for PSX games is recommended to be between x10-x16 .
Also did your burner or ps laser is good ?
What media type and brand you use ?

Check second link in my signature for tips how to burn PSX games !

1 Burn as slow as possible.
2 Use good quality discs - Taiyo Yuden is the best, and most you buy in the stores today are crap.
3 Swap trick sucks because it's running the game based on the first disc's TOC while playing a game disc usually with a different layout.
4 Your PS1's drive may be dying too
5 Always the possibility of a bad quality disc image

^ keep doing swap trick and you will be left without that option as well(you will kill your laser very fast) .

If your using the fat ps1 version with the parallel port to the rear you could try to get one of the many cartridges available that allow the disc to be swapped but in a much kinder manor to your laser. If you wait patiently on ebay they can be got for a pretty cheap price.

Looks like you'll need to tape down sensors etc on your ps2, as well as install fmcb etc to a memory card. It basically looks like it makes the ps2 do exactly what the cheat cart does on ps1, i just picked up another of those carts on ebay for just £4.

You can also use popstarter with fmcb for ps1 games.
