Thrift store computer find

Postby Berzerk » Tue Jul 17, 2018 10:33 pm

I know how people feel about Dell but I had to get this for $21 and some change it is in great shape other than the tape residue were I removed tape that was over the camera. It came with the charger I have a 750gb HDD for laptops laying around. Not sure what I can do for operating system I have original retail copy of Windows 7 professional but I read that you can not install on another computer on the internet. Any suggestions also not to tech savvy on computers is this a decent powered machine? Sorry forgot the photos. It still has the vista license key. Just cracked it open and changed the 2032 battery about to throw in the HDD.

If want to keep it Vista there's a update for it here

There also android os
There's Linux also like ZX said
Here's a way to test linux to see if you like it, through usb flash drive
Kali Linux

Installing Windows 7 now. Did not care for Windows 10 reverted my desktop back to 7. See how this works.

I think that's a mighty sweet deal for $21 plus change! I wish that I could find a deal like that around where I live. For that price, it's worth doing some "experimenting" with it. Like ZX said, it doesn't have the greatest graphics on board, but for retro gaming you can't go wrong. Enjoy!

I have a Thinkpad T500 with the same graphics card in it. It's a good candidate for retroarch. I run Linux on mine but graphics performance will be better on Windows, due to better drivers from AMD. Anyway it's a very good find for only 21$. Have fun with it!!
