Will the iso zone shut down like the others

Will the iso zone shut down like the others

Postby GHS » Thu Aug 09, 2018 11:48 pm

What is the future of this site? Will it get shutdown like emuparadise and other sites by Nintendo, if nintendo sees this site or will it just remove nintendos own IPs from the downloads?
I hope this site is safe.

It's already happening. This site is actually in some kind of transitioning state currently, you can't submit new uploads. Things are moving to a new site called "RetroZone". More info here:

Do you think nintendo and others will ever manage to shut down all iso/rom sites of the internet?

Emuparadise isn't shutting down they are simply going to become another gaming forum site just like TIZ. No doubt they are gonna have some "VIP" corner where you can hosts links to download some ROMS/ISOS.

This site isn't going down, the higher ups want it to be just a pure forum site. Tho to be honest I would like to see it archived and just move on with RetroZone.

Do you think Unicorns exist? Are Aliens probing people's but's?
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Hate to burst that bubble, but I was recently part of a community known as Chaosgames (previously 3DS Chaos), that was bar-none the best resource for 3DS files... they didn't host anything and required you to be a member to reveal the third-party hosted download links within posts. Admittedly, by the very nature of the site they were Nintendo-centric, but they also catered to non Nintendo platforms too. Nintendo tried hitting them with C&D's (even though nothing was hosted on their site), and eventually succeeded in strong arming their web host to take them down. This alone didn't kill the community, as it resurrected elsewhere, but the increased costs accrued and continued pressure from Nintendo eventually led to the sites closure.
I know they kind of painted a big target on themselves by rampantly exploiting piracy on (what was at that point) Nintendos golden goose, but I just wanted to point out that not hosting doesn't automatically make you safe. For further examples look to the bittorrent sites that are no longer with us.

I think you can push it too far and if you do you'll face the consquences. 3DS back then at least, would be like having an Xbox One or PS4 isos website.

The push back is now, and instead of more, rom sites will be offering less, and less, until theres nothing left

It's pretty obvious now though that what needs to be done is something that makes everyone happy. A rom site that charges a subscription for x downloads, and pays the rightsholders their royalties.

I don't feel that old isos have a negative effect on sales of classic digital games. The vast majority of people don't keep their old consoles, even less mod them to have the ability to play isos.

Yeah, we'll probably get there around the same time Nintendo figures out a way to get a percentage of all second hand physical sales.

I've been following a massive thread on this whole debate about piracy & whatnot over on Resetera (terrible forum, FYI). Most seem to think that downloading roms is "stealing." I'm not arguing for or against that opinion, but I find the irony to be rather thick considering their stance on the social safety net & its expansion. Anyways, I'd say that 98% of the forum is left-leaning in their politics, the majority of whom support "free" college & healthcare. How do they plan to pay for those things in addition to the nearly bankrupt medicare & social security? By taxing people more, which is "stealing." Those people aren't donating their money, it's being stolen & redistributed to the have-nots. So the have-nots can't download roms, they must pay the rich corporations $10-$15 a pop or else they're bad pirates, but it's okay to steal from people when it's not harming your industry (many on Era work in the industry, FYI)? Mmkay!

Simplest way around that is to not offer anything from Nintendo.

Someone will have picked up the rights to the games.
