Postby dreamcast459 » Wed Dec 13, 2017 8:43 pm

ok so a guy on craigslist wants to sell me a computer for 140$. but im not sure if this computer would be any better than my current gaming pc below is the info you need what do you guys think?

my current setup is an HPZ400 workstation with
xeon w3565 stock speeds,16 gigs ddr3 ram,475 watt proprietary psu,240gig ssd 2tb HDD
sapphire platinum RX470 4GB GPU below are the specs of the craigslist computer

Computer has a clean install of Windows 10 Home 64-bit O.E.M operating system installed with the option to return to Windows 7 HP. Original Windows 7 install disk and key provided. Back-up images of both O.S. saved on 2nd internal hard drive. Hardware specs:
* Intel DP67BG ATX motherboard * 3.30 GHz Intel Core i5-2500 high end cpu with after-market cooler *8 GBs dual channel DDR3 memory *High-speed Intel MLC 180 GB solid state operating system drive * AMD Radeon HD 6570 PCIe graphics card
CD/DVD read/write Optical drive * Brand new Seasonic 550W gold modular PSU * USB 3.0 & 2.0 ports on rear panel, two 2.0 ports on front of PC * Microsoft USB keyboard and mouse included * Asus 23" Diag LCD monitor available for an additional $75.00.

Computer is set-up for viewing and operation to satisfy any questions.

im wondering will this computer be better than what i currently gameon i should not the Craigslist pc supports overclocking where as my Z400 does not

edit if i buy the computer the RX470 will be swapped out with the 6570

that cpu is about $40-50 bux. its a 2nd gen I5. its about 7 years old now. still decent enough. It slightly kills your Xeon tho.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-W356 ... re-i5-2500

if you put your video card in the craigslist computer, it might run things better.

I would say its decently priced.

Only thing that's better is the CPU. Everything else your pc beats it.

Not worth it.

I'd stick with what you have.

If you are looking for a low cost improvement, can you drop in a Xeon X5680? That will get you better perfomance (6 core vs current 4 core) and you can still keep your current hardware. Buying that one on Craigslist is not going to be giving a new level of an upgrade. I would say pass and save up for something that will be a major improvement

Save money for newer hardware. Unless you are looking for an HTPC for cheap, pass on this. I’d also try to offer only $50 but that’s just me. You’re also only going to go so far buying prebuilt systems. Eventually buying parts and putting it together on your own will have to be done.

There must be a reason they don't do eBay.

If this Net Neutrality things goes down, I will be liqudating a lot of my computers, I have a small network of devices, but the new rules might force me to get rid of a bunch of them. If I have to pay extra plus carrier commision to sell on ebay or Craigslist, they will all go to the local Goodwill.

$140 bucks on Craigslist for a worthless computer? I definitely would stick with your HP. By the way wackplayer the net neutrality did win today.
