Some thermal paste repastes!

Some thermal paste repastes!

Postby wshirk » Wed Apr 25, 2018 1:45 am

So i recently traded an ipad pro for a dell precision t3500, and have since upgraded the processor to an xeon x5650 at 2.66 gigahertz 6 core 12 thread hyper threading, and i used noctua-NT-h1 thermal compound. I also have a wack at changing the thermal paste on my Nvidia Quadro 2000 Workstation graphics card, which came with the computer, and it idles at about 50, and 70 gaming, so same as old paste, just fresh new paste, so at least if it gets really hot, it is fresh new paste. Still had some leftover, so decided to re paste my PS4 also, and i have the 1215A, so it automatically does not sound as bad as the first and second revision can get. The console did get loud, but could not be heard over the TV, just decided to replace the crappy paste that Sony used. The weird thing is the bottom of the console gets hotter than it did, but the air coming out feels hotter, than it did before. Everything is working, and all re paste's were successful! So anyways wanted to let everyone know what i have been up to lately, and have a great rest of your day/night whichever it is for you!

Nice. But if you do run into problems with heat in the future, this guy does some great cooling mods:

Why do people still use AS-5? Not only is Arctic MX-4 way better, but there has been much better shit out than MX-4 for years!

Limited to stock of computer shops.. I don't buy stuff online and local shops always use A5.
Basically, been using it for years and I stick to whats proven good in the past compared to "Some" brands...

I'll check the MX-4 out -
Thanks AdmiralShlong.

No problem buddy. That makes sense, we don't have computer shops, Radio Shacks, or Circuit Cities on this side of the pond anymore. There is no such thing as shopping for electronics locally here! Probably the only reason I stay somewhat updated.

AS-5 has done damn well for many years, and is still good enough for many builds. It's just not the bad boy on the block anymore.
