EDIT- That is, providing you have a legit copy of a ps1 game....

Ironically if you softmod your Wii it does allow you to put sometimes 5 or 6 Gamecube backups on a dvd-r and play them on Wii (maybe that's where you got the idea?) but doesn't work that way with Free McBoot/PS1 games.
I believe you would have to block the sensors inside your PS2, and have a PS1 original to play PS1 backups. There may be more to it than just that IDK because I haven't done it myself. I think there's a tutorial on this site somewhere but I can't remember where.
Here's a tutorial I just googled and found

There is a disc that you can get from Thailand or China that will let you play PS1 backups on a PS2 though.

Recipe for playing psx back up games on a softmodded (not chipped) PS2 with PSXLauncher.ELF
1. PS2 v.9/SCPH 5000x and up
2. uLaunchelf
3. FMCB (1.8 preferably)
4. sliding tool or flip top cover for fat/slim PS2
4a. fat PS2 flip-top lid
4b. slim PS2 flip-top lid
4c. sliding tool/magic key
5. USB stick
6. PS1 game
7. PSXlauncher.ELF (the enchilada)

See everyone just says "use this" but they don't mention that's there's more to it than just using that by itself.Recipe for playing psx back up games on a softmodded (not chipped) PS2 with PSXLauncher.ELF

There doesn't seem to be any just simple way to do it imo.
