PS3 Super Slim Discolored CPU

Postby Gray1579 » Sun Aug 13, 2017 5:52 pm

Anybody ever ran across this before. It is not black but top of CPU is kinda blue and silver?
Just bought this PS3 at a yard sale and it was really clogged up. Works fine now after clean-up and repaste. Think it will hold up?

Thanks

Probably ran hot a few too many times. If its working and you don't smell bad (burning) wiring its probably ok.

It was running very warm when I got it yesterday. Vents on the bottom were all clogged up. Running much cooler now. Was wondering it it was worth another case.. This case is all busted up. It's had a hard life.

Thanks for the reply.

That's probably normal, I recently took mine apart and repasted it but I can't remember what the CPU looked like, but I have seen some on other consoles that have a blue tint to them.

I don't know what paste you used but Arctic MX-4 is an 8 year paste with good temps (just saying in case you don't want to repaste it every couple of years), and I'd say it'd be fine to to ahead and get another case for it.
