How do i make my games portable?

Postby tronkid2001 » Wed Jan 11, 2017 12:06 am

I was wondering if any of you can help me make my retail games portable(means i can copy to a usb drive and play from any computer). I would install my games to my work computer but i don't want to install permanently. I would rather install, make the game portable and put it on my usb drive. Are there any programs for this? Thanks in advance:)

I think some games (at least the older ones) can just became portable by copying all the data from the installation directory to an usb drive. I'm not sure, but try it, you have nothing to lose.

I would like to add that Mr.Pink makes portable games. I can't remember them but you should check out his uploads. Well search for them as the page to check peoples uploads is kind of broken.

quick google - prayaya might do this for you....I never used it before or had the need to run games from USB (except where they have been installed as part of a LInux distro).

"PORTABLE" This can usually be achieved by first

1. FULL Install of a game and NO CD if required applied
2. MOVE the games installed folder to another system/drive
3. Scan Registery for anything that's needed (Uninstall not required)
4. Backup and Remove registery settings
5. Run the game from new location
6. If it works, your laughing, if it don't you need to find by figuring out what you missed.
7. If it worked, Add to archive, test on mates PC before uploading !

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
As ZX say's above, and occasionally the installer will drop a folder will crucial core files
in another part of the HDD.
Some are easy, some are easter egg hunts and take tweaking(custom shortcuts,cfg,etc..) and some can be total disasters.

If you have a specific game in mind, post it here.

The games I have in mind are Tron 2.0, Lego star wars: the complete saga, and Lego star wars 3

Tron shouldn't be an issue, Lego might be a little more complex.
I have TRON 2.0 installed already and just preformed a few messings

Shifted the TRON 2.0 folder to D:\
Loaded the cracked EXE with no issues

Examined the registry entries and none are really required

Removed the game from C: and reloaded from D: with no issues

So yeah TRON is quite portable
