Revive DC or No BS?

Postby GrimMeNaCe » Mon Jul 17, 2017 8:19 pm

Hello! I have a question. So I have been using Revive DC for a long time now until recently I found out about No BS. I was wondering are the No BS releases that much better than the Revive DC ones? Because I have a bunch of old Revive DC releases that are now also found in No BS. Should I re burn my old Revive DC games into No BS versions? Thank you!

Revive DC was around first, and is a symbol of excellence when it came to DC ISOs. However there was a disagreement at some point and all ReviveDC games were removed from this site. One of the original RDC team started putting out "NoBS" releases.

Both RDC and NoBS releases are excellent. But for me the NoBS ones have the slight edge, being more recent. IIRC, some are even optimised to load faster/put less wear on your laser.

NoBS is more recent, but they are essentially made by the same person. If you've been around long enough you may have seen the drama around the DC release scene. Sure is a shame NoBS isn't making releases for us anymore *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

For me personally I'd go with No BS since its more up to date, they may be more optimized for the Dreamcast hardware. I had an older backup of Shenmue from here and the laser was constantly making noise trying to read it, so I recently tried a No BS version and could immediately tell its way easier on the laser and even loaded faster in that case.

I'm not sure if I'd go through the trouble of replacing ReviveDC releases as its essentially by the same people, but if your backups are 5 years or older then yeah I'd say its probably worth doing just in case they optimized it more.

For future games I'll definitely be looking for the No BS releases if they're available.
