At least the capture you made isn´t 480p, looks more like S-Video quality to me. There seems to be something to be wrong here for sure. I use cheap ass component cables for my XBox (because they are the only ones easily avaiable here) and Image quality is really great, sharp picture in all supported resolution.

Setup.

It's directly fed to my PC via a HD PVR 2.

Looks like you don't have 480p enabled, or it's a pal system or something. I use gam3gear and am pretty happy with them. The do have interference lines if I get anything near it though. I actually own monster but they won't fit on my current TV.

It's all enabled on NTSC mode, (Enigmah video switcher)
The image goes to 1080i when entering into the menu again after rebooting the XBOx, it's why it's so large.

And what are you using to get the HDMI Signal required for that? From what I can see the HD PVR 2 doesn´t support Component on it´s own.

EDIT:

Just saw that it has indeed a component input with what looks like an proprietary connector.
Does your Image look that bad when connected directly to a TV or Component to HDMI Converter as well?

EDIT 2:

Try disabling PAL 60 Mode. You don´t need it since your System is Region free anyway and most PAL games will just run fine in the NTSC resolutions. Also try to disable the Fast Framerate Mode or whatever that one Option is, maybe it´s messing with something. And lastly check the Settings in your Recording software, at least something isn´t in progressive mode for sure, the clip from the Fighting Game has very obvious Interlacing Artifacts, something that should never happen in a progressive mode.

I used to buy them & they'd either arrive faulty or go faulty within a few months. Usually it was the screen going all green, which was fitting for Xbox, but it wasn't much fun playing games entirely in green. Now I have both versions of the official Xbox component cable with the box & without it. You either pay for quality of have to keep repaying for the cheap cables. Granted, I paid less than they go for now (I think $25 for the HDAV Pack & $30 for the standalone cable).

Cannot disable on Unleash X so used XBMC and removed flicker filter settings.
It's better but still very bad on TV, captured looks way better though.

Wow kasumi got me kind of boned up...
I bought cheap component cables all the time have never had a problem..
Probably you don't want to hear that its your expensive upscaler that is to blame...

well you might try reading the manual for it, does og xbox output in 480i or 480p, is it converted to the native resolution of your monitor. make sure pal ntsc settings are correct, course. But it already reminds me of a bad upscaler I had for ps2 with the washed out colors

perhaps you are better off going back to composite with that scaler.

Might be a pal version of DOA too. I play DOA all the time and it looks awesome in 480p, many mistake it for 720p it looks so good.

If you can solder you could make your own out of the OG Xbox lead or a 360 component lead. Did a couple years ago, added different audio connectors for my sound systems & they work a treat. You can't get cheaper than £0 :D :D

That's pretty crazy. I've used cheap cables and have never seen that, but forking out for the official cables is definitely the way to go. That, or making your own.
