Autoboot to XBMC with ind-bios?

Postby webodan » Mon Dec 11, 2017 11:41 am

I've just flashed ind-bios 5003, liking it so far, removing the flubber thingy makes it boot really fast and feels rather stable...

My system boots to unleashx, which I don't want. I've tried switching Autoboot DVD to Yes and then set the path to my xbmc xbe, but the dashboard ignores this setting. Can I make it autoboot any other way either using unleashx or the ind-bios cfg? I don't want to mess around with boot cfg files without being absolutely sure that it'll work. I can run my xbmc xbe manually without any issues.

Thanks in advance.

Method 1: edit ind-bios.cfg
Edit the DASH boot order in ind-bios.cfg:

Code: Select all

Change the first, DASH1, to the complete path to XBMC's default.xbe file on your HDD.

PartitionN = Drive Letter
Partition1 = E:
Partition2 = C:
partition3 = X:
Partition4 = Y:
Partition5 = Z:
Partition6 = F:
Partition7 = G:

so, if the path to XBMC's default.xbe Is:

set DASH1=<path> to be:

The configuration file must be placed in C:\ with the name ind-bios.cfg

WARNING: DO NOT inject the config file into the BIOS and flash to the TSOP.

Method 2: Shortcut
There must be a file named evoxdash.xbe in C:\ of your Xbox. This small file, size 10232 bytes, is not the real evoxdash.xbe file. For Evoxdash version 3935, the file is 752 KB. Thus, this shortcut file has been created to startup UnleashX on your Xbox. ind-bios's default dashboard boot order first tries to run evoxdash.xbe if not found tries DASH2 file, etc.

Use XBE Shortcut Maker, to create a new shortcut file that redirects the execution of evoxdash.xbe to the path of XBMC's default.xbe on your HDD. FTP this new shortcut file to C:\ overwriting the current file (or first rename evoxdash.xbe to unleashx-shortcut-evoxdash.xbe before uploading the new shortcut).

Clip the big Create Shortcut button to save the new shortcut file:

XBE Shortcut Maker's shortcut files are 60KB not 10,232 bytes in size.

There must be some app that created this much smaller file. Oh wait,..., what was it...

Eureka, that's the MODCHIP CDROM BIOS patcher. It patches the in-memory BIOS (only a limited set of specific BIOSes are patchable) to enable XISO mounting for a modchipped Xbox using the NKPatcher softmod driveimagetools - attach and detach.

Which then runs evox.xbe - my Xbe Shortcut Maker shortcut to XBMC.

I use the HeXEn disc to install XBMC to the E drive, then I go to the dashboard tools section and have it create the proper shortcut to boot straight into XBMC. No manually editing - HeXEn does all the work.
