So Microsoft announced today that they are selling a 4gb xbox 360 bundled with the kenect for $99 usd

catch?

Oh... well the catch is that you are contracted to xbox live gold for 2 years at $14.99 a month

So over all your going to end up spending $459 over the span of 2 years...

Good deal or no deal?

let me know your thoughts as I'll be taking a trip to the Mall o America in July and have an option to pick one up at the Microsoft store

it's not rocket science as to what that "deal" will truly cost you in the end.....!!

in my mind your paying it off as a credit card... you could buy the same deal for $299 or pay $99 up front and $15 a month for 2 years with interest included..

So is the xbox live gold worth the extra that you'd be paying?

4gb Xbox 360 Slim
320gb slim Harddrive with Lego SW 3
12 month xbox live gold starter kit
12 month xbox live gold subscription
(Or equal... I'm probably never getting Kinect )

Believe it or not, but many people buy things this way. At many (web)shops you can buy tvs , n stuff or anything, and pay per month, offcourse it always comes with interest. Some people just prefer to pay a small ammount per month, because they cant afford the whole ammount in 1 payment. In most (web)shops, you have to pay extra when you pay per month. Its not uncommon.
Its mostly for people that have to think about how they spend their money, and still be able to enjoy themselves in their spare time.

oh i believe it, never in any doubt nor was my response based on it!!!
however those who choose to pay in bitz ("enjoy" themselves) should pay the premium maximum for that luxury...
have the lot in one sitting but it costs you half, slack off and it costs you double!!!
economics...
i refuse to pay for others luxuries on the extras...
they should learn to save...

this is xbox live gold (best buy has a 12month membership for $60)... though i'm sure the service you get from this does not cost Microsoft anything.

is the xbox live gold membership worth its price tag?

Id personally pass.
The new consoles are Corona consoles and are not RGH hackable yet.

But that's just me.

Sounds like a good way to get a console for little up front cash.
Plus we all know the 360 as a whole is at the end of it's console life span rope.

Good way for Microsoft to push units at the end of a cycle.

i think its cheaper getting a 4gb xbox and 2 of those one year card things then do this deal.

4gb xbox-$199.99
one year of xbox live-$59.99*2=$119.98
so if you add ($199.99+$119.98) you will get $319.97 total


and then there is this deal
4gb xbox-$99
2 year contract-$14.99/month so $14.99*24=$359.76
the total? $458.76

but hey you get a free kinect with it.
