For someone who is into doing videos and vlogging, among other things, the term 4K camera is more than familiar to you. However, for those who maybe are starting to do the film-making business, and are new to all that technology, that term is a little strange.

To understand better, we are going to try to get you familiar with the term. 4K refers to a video that is recorded with a horizontal screen resolution of 4,000 pixels. Of course, the pixels vary depending on what are you needing and using it for, like cinema projection and TV broadcast, but that is the number that is used to describe these types of cameras.

Now that we explained it a little bit let’s get on our list of the best 4K movie cameras that are currently available on the market.

1. Fujifilm X-T3

For filmmakers and vloggers, this is the best option. Fujifilm is a well-known and trusted brand, and you will ever make a mistake if you go for one of their products.

Fujifilm X-T3 can shoot up to 60p, and there will be a great 2x slow-motion effect. This is a mirrorless type movie camera with an APS-C sensor, and the sensor resolution is 26.1 MP. 60P is the highest frame rate, meaning you can shoot at 24, 25, 30, and 50p if you want. The regular ISO range is 160-12,800.

You can have two memory cards to record and store your videos. There is a possibility of recording 8-bit videos that are stored within, and if you plug in a memory card, you can record and store 4:2:2 color sampling quality. F-Log mode is also available, and HLG. The only downside to this camera is that there is no in-body stabilization, and you will need something like a tripod to get that video stabilized.

2. Panasonic Lumix S1

Another mirrorless 4K movie camera, this model has a full-frame sensor, and the sensor resolution is 24.2 MP. Unlike the previous movie camera, this one comes with in-body stabilization, and you can shoot stills and record amazing videos. However, to achieve that 4:2:2 10-bit internal documentation, you will have to pay extra for software key, which you may not like since the price of this movie camera is already a little too expensive as it is.

Nevertheless, this is a great 4K movie camera, and the standard ISO range is 100-51,200. 4K frame rates are 24, 25, 30, 50, and even 60p. You will need some time to get used to managing it, and it is a little heavy. Still, it is a fantastic 4K camera for shooting videos that is available in 2019.

3. Nikon Z 6

This Nikon Z 6 mirrorless movie camera has a full-frame sensor, and its resolution is 24.5 MP. This is the perfect camera for shooting videos, and it comes with an in-body image stabilization. The ISO quality is impressive, and the standard ISO range is 100-51,200. F-Log is available, too, and if you plug in an external recorder, you will get the option of shooting and storing the videos of 4:2:2 10-bit.
However, there are some things you may not like. Like 4K frame rates, for example.

You only get the option of 24p, 25, and the maximum is 30p. There is also a single XQD card slot, but the price is excellent, and you will get a 1080 video at 120p.

4. Sony A7 III

Sony A7 III is also a mirrorless camera, which includes a full-frame sensor of 24.2 MP resolution. It is a fantastic all-round movie camera, and if you are interested in getting that perfect picture for the least amount the money, this could be just the thing.

It is incredible for photography, and it can work good for recording videos, even if its maximum 4K frame rate is 30p. There is an in-body stabilization, and the ISO performance is excellent, with the standard ISO range of 100-51,200. S-Log is included in this camera, meaning that you will get high dynamic range scenes and color grading. Twin card slots are another fantastic feature. The bad thing is that the video specs aren’t all that great, but overall this is a nice 4K movie camera.

5. Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II

This Olympus model is suitable for video, and it has a highly powerful stabilization. Another mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor and a sensor resolution of 20.4 MP. If you are interested in shooing stills, this is an excellent product for it, and it is good for video too. You can record 4K UHD, meaning you will get the resolution of 3840 x 2160 and Cinema 4K with 4096 x 2160, and all that at 24p or 30p frame rate. If you combine it with M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-100mm 1:4.0 IS PRO, you will get an amazing focal range of 24-200mm.

In addition to this, you will get the ability to have a consistent f/4 highest aperture. There is a smaller sensor size, and this model is sometimes not taken seriously, as Panasonic has some cameras that seem better than this one. So pay in mind that this is a nice 4K camera with great features.

6. Sony A6400

If you are a vlogger, this is the camera for you. Mirrorless Sony A6400 with APS-C sensor and the sensor resolution of 24.2 MP may be from 2014 but is still an amazing 4K movie camera even in 2019. Autofocus is fantastic on this camera, and you can adjust and shift the display facing towards you, which will make you see what exactly are you trying to record. It may seem like a selfie camera, but if that were its only purpose, we wouldn’t have included it on our list.

The price might not be as affordable to some, but the video you get with it is good. 4K frame rates are 24, 25, and 30p, meaning that you will record a good quality video. There is no in-body stabilization, and the handling is not as perfect, but still, this camera deserves to be on our list due to its features.

7. Panasonic Lumix G90/G95

If you want something nice for still photography and vlogging as well, this Panasonic Lumix G90/G95 is just the camera for you. The sensor is Micro Four Thirds with the resolution of 20.3 MP. The sensor size is a little smaller than some of the other move cameras on our list, but still, it is an excellent product for taking pictures and shooting videos. There is a dual stabilization available, as well as a vari-angle touchscreen, but is lacking in the price department. It is not as affordable as some of the other products, but still, it is considered as a nice 4K movie camera overall.

The standard ISO range is 200-25,600, and there are SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards available.

8. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K

This Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is intended for videos. The 8.8 MP is also created, especially for native 4K, and the sensor is MFT. There is just single autofocus, and the 50icnh touchscreen is a great feature. However, you can record videos at a frame rate of up to 60p, and the standard ISO range is 100-32,000. The problem with this camera is that it is just made for capturing videos, as we mentioned before, and you can’t capture stills with it.

9. Panasonic Lumix GH5S

Another Panasonic product and another camera intended just for capturing videos. Since this is a list of 4K movie cameras, we thought we should include this Panasonic model as well, even though you cant capture stills.

The sensor is Micro Four Thirds, and the sensor resolution is 10.28 MP. You can record videos at up to 60p frame rate, and all that with 10-bit internal capture, which is impressive. You will also get Panasonic’s V-Log mode already found in the camera, and the performance is amazing. The standard ISO range is 160-51,200, and there are two SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards available, but there is no in-body stabilization.

You can shoot 17:9 Cinema 4K and 16:9 4K UHD with this Panasonic Lumix GH5S move camera, and this model is considered as one of the best cameras with a Multi-Aspect sensor.

10. Canon EOS C300 Mark II

The last mirrorless type 4K movie camera on our list is Canon EOS C300 Mark II. It has a Super 35mm sensor and 8.85 MP. It is a little too expensive, but the feature it offers may be worth all that money if you decided to purchase this movie camera.

Canon wanted to create a product that will make professional filmmakers desperate to have it. You can plug in external monitors, rigs, grips, and even sound equipment, and you can capture 4:2:2 10-bit videos internally, as it has twin CFast memory cards. If you attach an external recorder, you will get raw 4K. It is intended only for videos, and it cannot capture stills. There is also an integrated ND filter, but it is a little complex for some users.

If you are just getting in the whole capturing videos business, you may need to reconsider this camera. However, if you are a professional, it will be worth every cent.
